Imouto - A glimpse at the first 3 months!

16 year old girl flew home to out of Province after spending over a year living in the Downtown Eastside! She ended up homeless in the Downtown Eastside a year ago, sleeping in parks and unsafe privately owned hotels. She came to Imouto six weeks ago. For the first time in a long time, she had a safe place to sleep at night and a multitude of services literally wrapped around her. Through those services and the House Coordinator, she was able to reconnect with her family in another Province. Her mom and brother got to come visit her, as this was the first time they knew exactly where to find her. And last Friday, her Aunt picked her up and she was off to the airport. Before she left, she looked at Val (Imouto's house coordinator) and said, Thank you for letting me live here, gave her a big hug and was out the door and out of the Downtown Eastside.
