Herspace - a safe space for women to connect and learn essential career skills
Atira is partnering with EMBERS and Six Words Communication to offer a safe space for women to connect and learn essential career skills
At Atira, we are dedicated to supporting women affected by violence by providing services that empower them to overcome difficult situations, reach their goals and find fulfilling work opportunities.
In 2015, we launched a One-On-One Tutoring Program in conjunction with Vancouver Community College. The program provides free training opportunities to women looking to develop and improve workplace skills such as computer use, communication and numeracy.
This spring, we have partnered with the Eastside Movement for Business and Economic Renewal Society (EMBERS) and Six Words Communication to launch HerSpace, a safe place for women to connect, learn and hone essential career skills.
We are proud to launch the space on March 8, in honour of International Women’s Day.
From workplace literacy to skill development like smartphone and computer use, budgeting, reading, writing and more, HerSpace aims to empower women through education and one-on-one, woman to woman support.
Individual women choose the skill they want to improve, we help make it happen.
HerSpace is our way of tipping our hats to the countless mentors we've had over the years, the people who made time to share their expertise, support and words of encouragement when we needed it. The people who created space for us to learn a new skill and as a result, helped us face new career challenges and opportunities.
HerSpace happens every Thursday from 4 to 6 PM at EMBERS (310-111 W. Hastings St- Embers Boardroom). To learn more or find out how you can get involved, email email@example.com
