2.3     Introduction

In the first module, we explored some dynamics of abuse within a health-care setting and the reality that many female health-care providers will also experience abuse in their intimate relationships. In this module we will meet Judy, a woman who is experiencing abuse in her intimate relationship. While violence against women in relationships is different from workplace abuse in many ways, you will notice parallels in the dynamics of her experience: in the power and control exerted over her, the cyclical nature of her experience, and her entrapment in a situation she is trying hard to understand and change.
